About Rondie Pottinger

Born in the impoverished countryside of Jamaica, Rondie Pottinger was emotionally connected to its supple landscape at birth, and it has become his language; virtually an extension of who he is.  The Pottinger collection expresses this primal connection; displaying an appreciation of nature with an immediacy that only such a background could develop.

Since he has come to the United States, he has become an accepted master craftsman as a graphic artist, extending his expression into a variety of styles and media; always, in each case, he has brought with him the verdant spirit that lives in his blood and heart.

As Mr. Pottinger puts it, "These photographs go beyond art and into the realm of an intimate love letter to and about nature."  His emotions about the people, plants and the unique waters of Jamaica that sustains them, frame a visual invitation to the island's interior.  The profound blend of his childlike passion and technological expertise create a collection unsurpassed for its blend of that which is most primal with that which is most evolved.

His work offers you a unique glimpse into the life, details, and art of the Jamaican countryside.  Mr. Pottinger went to great lengths to deliver in color what it means to be born from Jamaica's soil.

Whatever your reason for loving the islands, nature, or just the primacy of mother earth, The Pottinger collection offers an encapsulation of what is primitive inside what is digital.  These images of the smaller, the slower, and the more organic aspects of life seek to rest in your heart with the same passion that they grew from the artist's.

Rondie Pottinger was born in 1973 in the parish of Manchester, Jamaica.  He moved to the United States at the age of fifteen.  He attended High School in Brooklyn, New York and went on to attend the University of Rochester where he majored in computer science and electrical engineering.   For 20 years, he has been one of the most sought-after and respected graphic artists in New York City for his technical prowess.
